It's painted in the same light grey paint as the convertible top frame, tonneau support rod, etc. There should be a flat rubber seal glued to it as well - the factory parts book shows this clearly.

What we do here is use ordinary engine oil - whatever is in the utility squirt can. It is easier to oil the Everseal strips on both sides and install the glass channels while the rubber is still wet
