I don't remember a turboed 240 SX. I do remember a turbo 200sx however. Twin plugs? How about twin cam? I know of no twin plug heads that Nissan imported into the US - ever. The early motors were 12v
The NAPS-Z (I think) variant in the early Stanza's were twin plug. Interesting ignition system as the second plug didn't fire all the time, only under certain circumstances. As I recall is was suppos

Wasn't the NapsZ engine an 8 plug (i.e. twin plug) engine... and turbo in the 200sx. And not exactly big hp... round 130 or so I think. One of my "considered" but quickly discarded choices for the sw
Sounds more like a 200SX turbo to me. If I remember the CA18/20? in both NA and turbo had twin plugs for emissions. Ron /// datsun-roadsters@autox.team.net mailing list
Ya, that's right, it's not a NapsZ, it is a CA motor, but not the cool twin cam they had in Japan with a Turbo (or normally aspirated in the Pulsar twin cam in the States). I think they were 1800 cc'
My 1984 Stanza has twin plugs in the CA20E engine. The 200SX Turbo was a CA18ET. The turbo wasn't a good design - it tended to pull the head bolts out of the block. Gordon Glasgow Renton, WA /// dats
200 SX 1982(?)-1988 type S12 with CA18ET had twin plugs. Also some Z-head engines without turbo. Thomas /// datsun-roadsters@autox.team.net mailing list
I went to look at a 200sx when I went to buy a car in the mid 80s and I guess I was so impressed that I forgot about the twin plugs, especially after taking it on the road and seeing how well it hand
I JB Welded the exhaust studs back in that block for a friend. I told him to sell it fast and don't drive it. He did, and I still see that car driving around town years later. It also broke the rocke
We had 122 hp in the 200SX Turbo (180 ZX in Sweden). The German market got 145 hp FJ20 and 170 hp VG30E in that car. The CA18ET have some tuning potential as more boost & intercooler add about 50 hp.
I've heard you can cast an entire engine block from JB weld Seriously, I have a friend who bought an Alfa GTV6 that had thrown a rod. Left a 1-inch hole in the side of the block. He drilled out the h
For all: especially for low emissions and no one has ever developed any go fast parts for it. I know personally of one in a pickup that still runs fine with over 200K, so even though it might never b
My friend that got burned (he is doing fine and at home) builds Nap-Z motors. He knows an outfit that build the stew out of them. If anyone is interested, I can get more info. Phil SEROC --Original M
If you check with Pierce Manifolds, they have a twin weber manifold for that series of engine. It should help. Other tricks such as porting, a header (available for trucks and cars) can help also. I
I heard the valve angle and placement was such that you couldn't go much bigger on the cam without the valves coming in contact with each other. Gordon Glasgow Renton, WA /// datsun-roadsters@autox.t
There is a similar problem with the VG30E or maybe it was the rocker arm mechanism. Usually solved with more duration to compensate for less valve lift like in "production" racing engines. Thomas ///
