Are there any links to removing the rear axle? When the rear of the car is jacked up and you spin the tires the yolk that connects the driveline does not turn. This does seem like a problem right? I

That sounds like a good bet, but first something you didn't mention. Is the trans in neutral (or the drive shaft disconnected)? If the answer is yes to either of these, then there is something eithe

If the other wheel is in the air the yoke won't spin, but the opposite wheel I just swapped rear ends and the axle comes off easily. It is held on by the 4 nuts behind the brake drum. You'll have to

Well that was easy!! The axle came out very easily and I guess that the good news is that it's not broken. So here's what happened. When I added my 15" wheels, I noticed that on the passenger side re

Ron, Thanks for the quick response. I wasn't thinking that the seal would come out without a complete dissasembly of the center section or disturbing any setup. This is good news. I will fire up the

If the bearings are good and the setup is correct then you can remove the flange, pry out the seal, replace the seal and assemble the flange. Torque the nut to get the same rotational resistance as

Frank, How much power are you talking about? If you're talking a major swap with a lot of torque like a V-6 or V-8, I'd seriously consider a custom swap like a 9 inch ford setup from Moser or anothe

I'll second the 8.8 LSD swap - that's what I did on the "R" to take the torque from the V6. I have a page dedicated to it on my website http://www.mildevco.net/chevypowereddatsuns/axle_engine_tranny.

Well, let's put it this way. The 1600 is the same as the 2000 (other than ratio). "BACK IN THE DAY" when I had the first hot motor in my 2000, I destroyed the rear end doing too many stoplight drags
