- Kevin, oil pump internal tolerances are set up by varying gasket thickness. Too much clearance will cause pressure loss, too little can bind the pump. Oil pump kits come with two or more base gaskets

- It is true that using the proper thickness gasket material is important. However, it is still possible to make your own. Just buy the correct thickness gasket stock from your friendly local auto-part
