- I may be way off here, but it was always my understanding that the purpose of the 3-angle valve grinding was to control the size and uniformity of the contact area. You don't want the valve seat area

- The reason for 3-angle valve grinding is to control the contact size for heat disapation. It makes sure the valve disapates heat to the seat uniformly and at the proper rate. -- -- Kevin Spooner The
