I am a retired FAA employee (non air traffic control) I remember one airport that was routinely shutting down one runway for events of some sort. A pilot complained to the FAA Airports District Offic

By the way we do use a closed runway and Taxiway here in the NC Triad area (Triad Sports Car Club). It's the Danville, Va airport. We give a donation the the parks and recreation dept each event. Joe
