It looks like I will be doing a complete valve job this winter, only 20 lbs in the number one cylinder. I am want to replace my stock valves with hardened valves and seats, along with tubular pushrod

Don't assume that you need shorter push rods just because the head was milled. You only need shorter push rods if you cannot back out the adjusters enough to reach the proper valve clearance. Unnece

I've been told the same thing about hardened seats. The idea is to improve heat transfer from the red hot exhaust valve to the head which acts as a heat sink. The hardened seat serves that purpose.
