One thing to remember sometimes the host hotel does not have facilities to
have a large banquet such as the case in Albany and Savannah where we had
to drive to the catering hall. Also, if a host club chose to do the awards
ceremony with a cash bar and hors deouvres'(sp?) then those who wish not to
go out to eat beforehand could still eat in the hotel restaurant before the
awards. Perhaps if the hotel knew upfront that they expected a large
turnout with many rooms being taken and people eating in their restaurant
they would not be opposed to negotiating the room rates, especially if they
never knew VTR had a regular banquet anyway. Just some thoughts so that
more people could afford to participate.

P.S. It would still be the one event that brings everyone together and
perhaps even others that usually can't afford to go but would love to see
the awards ceremony/speakers.
