The event at Summit Point was the maiden outing of my 1957 Turner and my
first time in a race in 20 years. The car did fine and I was very proud of
it. Many nice people came by to look at it and say nice things.
Our only difficulty was the transponders. My purchased transponder
tested OK with the little meter they have at tech, but would not pick up on
the track. We tried 2 different wiring methods to no effect. Must be the
transponder!
Wrong. An exchange transponder did the same thing.
Thinking that it might be something in the engine compartment, we
moved it to the back of the car and wired it directly to the battery.
Same-same!
Finally, on the final session on Friday we used a self contained
rental transponder and it was OK. By Sunday morning, the rental unit was
displaying a red light and had to be exchanged for a fresh(er) one.
The timing and scoring people were very helpful and we had advice from
some nice, bright people throughout the weekend, but we were unable to get a
hard-wired transponder to work. Has anyone else had and solved this
problem?
  Len
