Subject: vintage race cars built today
I sense a business opportunity here. I have a stock of raw material for
reproducing and / or maintaining "genuine" vintage racers:
Tank of pre-1963 air
Some funny-smelling gas, only a couple of gallons left
A few gasket sets that will only fit shrunken engines
Several cans of curdled paint
A couple of boxes boxes of corroded bolts
Lots of scraps of rusty tin
Broken plexiglass windscreens
Old ads from MG Mitten
A box of cams that cause your valve train to make lots of noise without
increasing performance
A couple of con rods that just need a little welding in the middle
Ditto cranks
A pile of valves that inexplicably seem to fall right into the ports
Hey, I know where there is a set of 1963 Pirelli Stelvios -- gotta be
good, I raced on that set in 1964
Several old "stock" seats -- don't give me any bullshit about new ones
being safer -- what's wrong with horsehair padding? Besides, most of us
don't fit between modern side bolsters
I like this whole thread, even if it does repeat itself every three
months. The one question that I have is that if someone talks a
sanctioning body into implementing an "only raced before" rule, what do
you suppose the grid would look like?
