     ok, jumping in here. Aside from the very first year, when you had to be
an SCA member to buy one, any person could go into their local
Dodge/Plymouth dealership and order the "competition package" option and
they would receive the ACR. The only differences were: Diferent final drive,
quicker steering rack, adjustable shocks, added rear roll bar, bigger front
bar, and deleted all the other options. In fact, the 98/99 Neon R/T was a
dressed up ACR. It was perfectly within the intent and rules for showroom
stock, and as I recall, not the most expensive Neon you could buy.
     On a vintage note, this is nothing new. People have been paying
premiums for Mini Coopers, Lotus Cortinas, Shelby Mustangs and so on and so
forth for ages. Trunk kits, on the other hand, have more heritage in the
motors and parts that used to "fall off the truck" in front of race shops.
