427 FE Fords came with a small notch in the big end cap. The notch is on the center line of the cap and is assembled so that it is on the "top" side. (It's a V-8, so the rods are at an angle.) This allows spray from one rod to lubricate the cylinder on the opposite bank. My recollection is that the notch is about 0.010" - 0.015" deep. Craig Wright |
