A technical query for a monday.
Has anyone any experience of setting up an oil feed to the underside of a
piston? I am trying to decide whether to set up some jets drilled though
the block and fed directly from the back of the main bearing shells, or to
drill through the rods and get the feed out the back of the big end shells
(in either case what size jet?)
The "mains" option has the advantage of knowing you are getting a good
steady stream up the bore, but I worry that there will be a loss of oil
flow to the big ends leading to failure. The "big end" option is better
from this point of view, but I dont think I will get as much oil up the
bore, and also the idea of drilling holes in te rods worries me.
Any comments?
