Brian:

I agree whole-heartedly. While I favor radials as my car's already set up
for them, I'll live with whatever is decided...BUT I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO
KEEP CHANGING TO RUN WITH VARIOUS ORGANZIATIONS.

To me, CONSISTENCY (among racing organizations) is a far higher priority than
AUTHENTICITY when it comes to tires. If you want to see what one of these
cars looks like on old tires, go to a museum. I'm out there to RACE the
car...and for me, modern DOT radials are a safer, more reasonable approach
for many reasons.

On a related note, I've been doing some research on racing Lotus Cortina's.
EVERY PHOTO I've found show that NONE OF THE CARS EVER RACED WITH OUTSIDE
REAR VIEW MIRRORS. I suppose, if we're being authentic, WE SHOULD ALSO BAN
OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRRORS!! Time to get real, folks....quit worrying about
what tires are AUTHENTIC and just go have fun!
