It depends more on the track than the club. Laguna Seca has the tightest
sound limits. They only get 4 "loud" weekends a year. Fortunately, the
Monterey Historics are one of them. All club events at Laguna must meet
the sound limits. Early morning groups can be forced to run as low as 92
db, which pretty much means small bore cars with nearly stock exhaust.
The SCCA Vintage event at Laguna is typicaly a real black flag festival
over the sound limits. ;=( The entire Porsche Unlimited group got black
flagged at one of them.

There are no sound limits at Thunder Hill. ;=) Sears Point is either 103,
or 105, I think. At Sears Point, the restriction is on hours of operation.
No race engines are supposed to be run outside of a time window (8A-6P?).

I would tend to think a 948cc motor with a straight pipe should come in
well under 103 db. I make about 97 db with a Fiat 1100 in a Formula Jr.
(straight pipe) I have no problem at Laguna if I bolt on a Supertrap.
