Don't know about dry ice blasting, but blasting with a baking soda media
cleans steel clean as a whistle and doesn't distort the metal. Leaves a nice
satin finish that doesn't oxidize as quickly as sand.

If view of the thin skin, I'd suggest to that blaster that he lower pressure
or back away further from the piece.
