The ever-versatile wet-liner block was developed first for the Standard
Vanguard, circa 1948. It was adapted for the Ferguson tractor produced by
Standard in a joint venture with Harry Ferguson (I think this predated the
merger of Ferguson with Massey-Harris). THEN the Vanguard engine, also
used in the Triumph Renown saloon and 2000 Roadster, was greatly modified
for use in the TR2.

So they're all related, but it wasn't first a tractor engine.
