Folks,
I have two questions. The first relates to the nature of the mail. I
seem to remember that someone expressed concern about all the seemingly
personal banter on this "vintage" race address. I have been receiving
these jewels at such a rate that I must ask if there is a digest mode so
that I only have to hit the delete key once. I have picked up some
valuable information from this source, but sometimes the sorting is
painful, so I just hit delete without looking for content. On both
Porschefans and Honda-Performance there is an option for digest mode.
On Porschefans there is also a place called tavern where a lot of this
banter belongs. Of course, I am not the net-police, so you are of
course free to flame me as you wish. In reality I have contributed very
little to this forum and have attempted to get as much information as I
could.

This leads me to question two. I have considered re-entering racing in
the vintage arena. What is the philosphical foundation for what
determines a car for vintage eligibility? I previously raced a Bugeye
Sprite (948 + 0.030), a formula vee, Datsun Z, Volvo 142E, and Porsche
Carrera Speedster. Now I have a 911SC. Anyone of those previous cars
with the possible exception of the Volvo was far less prepared then what
I perceive the level of preparation being discussed here is. Its no
wonder they turn faster lap times on street tires then they did when
they were being raced by major teams with substantial backing. I assume
that if I turn the SC into an RSR look-alike that would not be allowed,
but if I found an old rusted out hulk of a Cortina (for free) and built
a semi-tube frame Lotus Cortina, that would be allowed. There must be
some logic. If the Cortina could be raced, does that mean I could get
some hot rodders old Camaro and build a quasi-Penske Z-28?

I also tried to sell a 1981 Villy Vee Chassis number 1 for $2400 (OBO)
here with some interesting history but found out that it wasn't vintage
enough.

Alan
