I agree with everything you said. I have, however, been convinced 
that a closed helmet is worth the sacrifice of vintage appearance. 
Although . . . I was looking through some old racing photos this past 
week, and there I was in 1965 wearing a Bell helmet with a full-face 
bubble shield. Didn't look so different from the new helmet after 
all!
