Love all the discussion on this cheating topic..............
In my view the attitude of the driver is so much more important than the
prep of the car. I can say that at a recent CSRG event I had more fun
getting a 5th place and dicing for positions the whole race than I did
winning the next race
by leading all but the first lap.
Here in Calif it is a interesting proposition deciding how to set up a car,
we can run CSRG and VARA, each has a much different view of what is accepted,
I built a 67sprite so I could run a 1275 in northern calif (my race
bugeye must be a 948 up here) My car is pushing on a few rules in CSRG but is
well inside VARAs rules.
I have an all steel body and lever shocks, but a bit more rollbar than CSRG
would like(side intrusion bars). In both groups there is no questioning
safety improvements like fire sys/ fuel cell/ upgraded brake masters, I dont
favor one clubs philosophy over the other, both are great folks and a good
time........ chuck
