Just a quick note to thank you for the wonderful time I had at the
VARAC Festival at Mosport. The facilities were wonderful, and the
atmosphere was about as close to a Formula II race in Europe as one
could find on this side of the pond. All of the VARAC guys were very
helpful, lining me up with a great spot in the paddock, and providing
driving tips, and mechanical help all weekend long. Please pass along
my thanks to everyone who worked the event. It was a big job pulled off
to perfection.
Looking at the results, I see that the Ontario guys kicked our
American buts, getting 13 of the top 15 spots in the Monoposto Race!
Must be all that clean Canadian air and good living... hahahaha.. I was
really impressed by the good sportsmanship and clean, (and fast) racing.
With the recent discussions of track times, I found the VARAC schedule
just right. In fact, I skipped the Sunday morning warmup race to make
sure I'd start the Sunday afternoon feature. I liked the four, fifteen
minute sessions on Friday, rather than the two half-hour sessions that
I'm used to. I also liked the gridded format of the practice sessions
on Saturday and Sunday morning. In total, in my group, there were four
practice sessions, four practice races of increasing importance, and a
12 lap feature race on Sunday afternoon. Hard to beat that!
Thanks also for the "horse ears" and adult beverages served by VARAC
on Friday night at Race HQ, and for the great BBQ at the track Saturday
night.
As I drove home, I was already planning strategies for next year. I
need to import some of that clean air and good living, and maybe I'll do
better in the race. It will also be fun to see the changes that are
planned for the track.
To cap everything off, last night, I received proofs from R.
Harrington Photography... fabulous.. I'm putting together an order for
reprints tonight.
