     "O.K."  =  Martin van Buren was a native of a village called OLD 
     KINDERHOOK.  The Democratic party supported Van Buren and adopted
     the name "O.K. Club" (first meeting was in 1840).  The club embodied
     a feeling of everything was "correct" or all right.  The slogan lives 
     on.....
