I went thru this a while back on my Formula Junior. It came with a 7 lb
cap on the surge tank, and I was having boil-over problems. I was also
told not to use anti-freeze. After switching to a 14 lb cap and being
more careful about bleeding the air out of the system, I have not had
problems. I also use Water Wetter from Redline. When I went thru the
numbers, I came up with roughly 3 degrees per psi. That meant the
boiling point went from the mid 230's to the 250's. I also have a
cooling system pressure tester, which can be used to verify the system's
ability to withstand the higher pressure. Buy one. You can also use it
to test the caps. I'd also recommend keeping a close eye on your hoses.
Watch for signs of bulging. They may blow.
