I assume all insurance companies do the same thing: Their rates depend,
among other things, on how many policies they write for a particular type
of insurance. I tried to price-out Hagerty insurance here in Maine a few
years ago and found their rates 20% higher than, say, AAA because there are
fewer collector car policies written by Hagerty in Maine. More policies
equates to a distributed risk and lower rates...
