Chrome paint???? How could you guys be seriously discussing painting =
the=20
chrome bits of a half century old (give or take) Triumph? It is=20
something I would imagine a kid might do with a rusty old car that had =
one foot in the wrecking yard and the other almost there. That is so=20
tacky. A race to the bottom of the resale value.
Of course, painting or other process rather than replating might just =
mean that the $500-800 per bumper for quality rechroming could be put =
into needed bodywork, engine rebuilding, or 1000 other tasks necessary =
to get the car going safely, if not to a mythical "Concours-quality" =
appearance. The pretty stuff can come later; some folks would rather =
enjoy the car from the driver's seat, where it's hard to see the =
bumpers. ;)

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er, =
Triumph Herald engine with wings.
