It occurs to me that the nuts are designed to be self tightening..that's why 
you don't hammer the c**p out of them.  Over tightening actually damages the 
cone in the wheel and on the hub, and can induce wobble.
Just a thought.

How did your Stag wind up with 2-eared knock offs?  They had "safety"
knockoffs originally (but otherwise the same size & thread as TR6).

I doubt the factory ever published a spec, as they specifically said to use
a hammer.  But one approach would be to install them with a hammer and then
measure how much torque it takes to remove them.
