Not normal, IMO. Did you check the end gap of the new rings in the very
bottom of the cylinders? Double-check the bearing clearances with
Plastigage? Something not right.
Many years ago, I built a non-LBC engine that acted similarly. I also
thought it would loosen up in time. The next day, it threw a rod through
the side of the engine block.
