Always used to handcrank my lovely old Fergie tractor. Always fired and ran on the first swing. Although it had a fully operable starter motor, it never seemed too kind to send 12 volts and whatever amps into a 6 volt unit. Mind you, a 5.5:1 CR was helpful.
