All I can say is that Mercury seemed to have a pretty good idea what a 59
TR3A was worth, in the condition they evaluated it in. Ditto a 71 Stag.
Then when the 3A got wrecked, they seemed to have no trouble finding
comparable cars that had sold recently, in my region, and averaging the
sales price to get a 'value'.

And that where you start getting into trouble; when you become emotionally
attached to the car.
