Usually a two part retainer is a rotator unit. However without seeing them I can't say your parts are rotators. These allow the valve to rotate slightly during the open close cycle. This tends to give better long term wear. The keepers are the two small tapered locks that fit into grooves on the valve stem and wedge in the retainer.
