There are a lot of failures with replacement rotor arms.
here is some info:
"Interesting article in my TRaction (Triumph Register-UK) magazine this
month which is pretty important to us E Type lovers.
The article says "recently manufactured rotor arms have been failing because
the typical "mix" used in the injection molding nowadays contains more
carbon black and is therefore more conductive. More importantly, the rivet
which
holds the brass inlay into the molding is slightly longer than original,
bringing it too close to the spring clip on the underside. The high tension
current, averaging 30,000 volts is always looking for the easiest route to
earth,
and shorts out from the tip to the overlength rivet. The situation sometimes
rectifies itself on cooling butthen reoccurs with increasing frequency until
the rotor permanent short curcuits".
Rotor arms available from Distributor Doc are modeled after the 50's and
60's to suit TR2 theu 6 and are manufactured from the correct material and
with
a re-positioned rivet and no spring clip. They have a three year guarantee.
