If memory serves, it will work, but you will also loose the locating bolt at
one end of the shaft. Doesn't seem to be necessary anyway, the shaft will
be adequately located by the fork pins touching the bearing carrier.
The grease fittings are a Good Thing, IMO ... I added them to my clutch
shaft.
