Just a FYI,
Was working on installing this panel today and thought about Paul Dorsey's map
storage idea, where he welded in a flat piece of steel. He inquired about the
reason for the depression. After installing the carpet panel it became evident
to me. The depression is there to allow enough room to push the hi beam
switch. When the carpet is screwed done via the bracket for the hi beam
switch, there is enough room for your shoe to clear the clutch pedal. Without
the depression you might need chicken feet to get between the panel and the
clutch pedal.
