Of course the substance of the argument was never the issue.
The jury was looking for an excuse--ANY excuse--to remove money
from the trucking company's pocket and award it to the grieving
family. The fact that the "victim" caused the accident was also
never an issue for the jury.
Had this excuse not been available, then the jury would have
found another excuse.
The trucking company lost this case before the opening arguments.
Gotta love our legal system.
