This was my initial thought, particularly in light of not experieincing any
noticable problem. The one thing I questioned is whether the bulge/crack
would have been left like that at the time of the rebuild or would there be
evidence of a repair attempt. And, if there was a repair would it be evident
from the exterior or only interior.
PS: I'm near the other pond, but thank you for the offer!
