Working on motorcycles for decades now, I'm quite used to synchronizing
carburetors. I have to say that neither matching throttle blade gap nor
using a hose to listen with is very accurate.
The best tool is a synch stick, which you're not going to find any more due
to the mercury. But right behind it is the bank of vacuum gauges, like this
one.
