Does anyone know of a simple way to identify what differential (3.7 or
4.1) is fitted to a TR4? I have checked all my sources and cannot find any
way of differentiating (no pun) between the types using the serial number on
the top rear face of the diff.

Assuming what's inside the diff. is original, a CT prefix is 3.7:1 and a BT
prefix is 4.1:1.

*Mrs Irrelevant: Oh, is it a jet?
*Man: Well, no ... It's not so much of a jet, it's more your, er,
Triumph Herald engine with wings.
