Not necessary on the TR6, but I have a theory on the slotted holes on the
bracket. On the TR2,3, and 4's a hand crank is available. If you loosen these
nuts and advance the distributor completely and then tighten down and THEN set
the timing then you can loosen the nuts, retard the timing for starting
purposes (you're not cranking into a BTDC firing situation) and once the car
starts
you can advance the distributor against the stop and be back to the set
timing. I haven't tried this yet but when the car goes back together I will.

Sure, but I forget the value. 35 to 40 degrees comes to mind but don't go o
the bank with that.
