I used to like STP, many years ago
I've had the same opinion since we tore down an old Buick that had so much
run through it that you could stick the dipstick in the oil pan, after the pan
was dropped from the engine, and the sludge would hold the stick upright!
However, I think the suggestion was to use STP on the parts during assembly
and storage. I'd have to agree that the STP would be less likely to leave
dry spots over time.
