Back to the original context the comment was made by someone selling a TR6 on 
Ebay.  I agree, all things being equal an inline six will be smoother (if the 
website is to be believed and I see no reason to doubt it)  but making this 
statement re the TR6 is gratuitous especially considering there were no other 
engine options short of custom engine swaps.
