Steve and all I just got started in Vintage racing last year but I
have found the same issues when trying to make some updates during
this off season. I placed orders for components before Thanksgiving
and can't even get ship dates on some items (just vague staements like
3 months or so depending on the manufacturing run).
It seems that one voice in the crowd makes little difference with the
manufacturers we work with but maybe as an (un)organization of 250+
Triumph racing enthusiast we can band together and be heard.
Maybe we should make a list of "preferred vendors" and deal
exclusively with them. I know that many have a favorite rod or cam
they prefer to use but would use another brand provided it was of
somewhat equal performance and quality. There is the start of a list
on the website, maybe we should expand and refine the list based on
input from the group?
I look at the calendar and I know that there is no way I'm going to
get everthing done by the first race. From now on out I will never
disassemble anything without having the replacement components in my
hands.
