I was just talking about a bolt. Never said that was all there was to
torque. For almost all applications of standard threaded fasteners (bolts),
the fastener manufacturer gives a recommended and maximum torque value for
the fastener. And in the automotive world, it's even addressed by SAE with
specific values given based on bolt size and material.
