changing transmission oil

I am changing the oil on my TR3 that has a late 1962 TR4 tranny 
(CT14479) & overdrive.

The TR3 Workshop Manual says the gearbox with overdrives take about 
3.5 pints of oil but it did not look like anything close that amount 
drained out of the hole in the transmission.

Is there another drain in the overdrive unit??

Or does does tranny/OD only drain a small part of their oil?

Or was tranny/OD just low on oil???
