Hi Bill,
The dating letter confirms the bare minimum of details relating to when the
car was built. This can be used to confirm the age of a vehicle for
registration purposes. In the UK, this might be required if a car is being
returned to the road and does not appear on the centralised computer system.
This often happens when a car has been idle since before the computerised
system was established in 1977,
