Jon,
Once he gets his bonnet open have him check out the emergency release I
installed on my car courtesy of a design by one of the Georgia Triumph guys.
This works so smoothly that I don't even bother using the stock release
anymore. Here's the link
http://tr6.danielsonfamily.org/emergency_hood_release.htm
Also found this technique on line:
"was told that it is sometimes possible to push a long pole through the
grill area and reach the release. I was also told that by removing the glove
box an access becomes visible. The second approach, but I had a long pole
handy. With the pole, we promptly shredded the throttle linkage and did not
get the stupid bonnet open. The second method really works well.
Luckily a vintage car owner in Sycamore had a TR6 in his showroom. John and
I were able to open the bonnet on that vehicle and take measurements. Having
done that, John removed the glove box from my car (not a difficult task).
This may not be necessary if you are or have access to a small woman. Two
openings in the firewall will then become accessible. The left opening will
be the one you want to try. A long bladed screwdriver was then inserted
through the opening and pointed up at the bonnet. A push towards the right
fender immediately popped the latch."

Subject: TR bonnet release
Met a guy today at a party who arrived in a TR6PI. Seems before he left home
he wanted to do an engine oil level check but the bonnet release cable broke
without releasing the bonnet catch.
ISTR this issue has appeared previously on this list for 4's, 4A's and
5's/250's but I never kept the info.
Having looked at the car myself, the bonnet is still resolutely locked with
six miles of inner cable in the cockpit!
What was the technique for opening the bonnet without resorting to half a
kilo of semtex and a repaint? If anyone can help, the suggestions will be
relayed to the owner who does not populate the list.
Thanks, Jonmac
