If I'm not mistaken there was a factory issue procedure that invloved
sneaking a largish screwdriver through the rubber grommet along side the main
wire
harness as it passes through the firewall and engaging the release lever on the
latch directly. But this is for LH steer vehicles. I know not if the wire
harness passes through in the same relative location on the Right Hand versions
but if it does it shouild be a bit easier since there is no cubby box in the
way.
BTW I have done this a couple of times myself, once as a test and once whilst
installing the back-up release cable. (Hint: make sure both cables are
secure before test)
