Jack,
I guess I fell into your trap. I thought you were serious but in
retrospect, I guess the whole tongue in cheek posting was aimed at me
because of my complaint about the happenings at Triumphest last year.
I can't say that the VTR has continuously displayed the same sort of
anti Spitfire bias because not living in the eastern half of the US, I
have only been able to attend 2 VTR conventions. (That is a sore point
for another thread) But if people do complain, I would bet that there is
a problem there too. Just because you don't see it (and you wouldn't
unless you own a Spit) doesn't mean it does not exist.
I don't think it is an intentional thing done with malice or even
forethought. I think it is because the events are run by the old boy
network that governs VTR that have a preference for the TR2 through TR6
models and therefore think nothing of putting those models in the best
places and adjust the "lesser" models around the perimeter.
Therefore, if there was some sort of rotational basis of placement which
is done from year to year, this would not be the case and every model
would occasionally have its "turn in the barrel".
After all, since the VTR is supposed to be celebrating ALL Triumph
models, it is imperative that we not have any model with owners feeling
that they are of less importance than others.
Cheers,
Joe Curry

Subject: Re: VTR 2005 showfield - Spitfire bias
Just in case anybody had any doubt about this:
My "VTR Spitfire bias" post was intended to poke fun at some ridiculous
and
absurd statements by being ridiculous and absurd in the opposite
direction.
I've never thought there was any bias against any Triumph model at any
VTR
event I've ever been to and there certainly wasn't at Rockford. I have
no
complaints about the show layout and I'm not aware of anybody who did.
(I especially
liked that Participants Choice and Concours cars were together - i.e.
cars
were separated only by model.)
I always appreciate the hard work and effort a host club puts into one
of
these conventions so the rest of us can come to their place and play -
hard work
by a host club has never been more evident than it was this year in
Rockford
- I am very grateful for all the effort Tim and Ann Buja and many other
ISOA
members put into a very fine convention and I certainly didn't mean to
post
anything here that anybody could perceive as a complaint about anything
they
did.
Cheers
Jack Mc
