No, because of the difficulty of installing a fan belt on some TR's
because of the interference between the fan hub extension and the body
cross piece. To install a new belt, you'll typically need to loosen the
motor mount and jack the engine taking care not to tweak the oil pan.
You might be late to your TSD checkpoint. And if your generator bearing
is hosed, you want to take that out of the loop but still turn the water
pump, so a standard fan belt won't do the job either.
A universal emergency fan belt that's adjustable would handle these
problems too, but the nylon rope is a simple solution -- and easier to
explain than pantyhose in the glovebox. Although pantyhose can be used
as an filter to sift out crud in the cooling system, so be sure to carry
a pair too.
