When I had my diff out, I pulled the back cover off of it and visually
inspected all of the teeth on the ring and pinion for wear or damage. I
also inspected the oil inside the case for fragments of particles of
metal. Then you can also spin the diff by hand with the back cover off to
watch it turn and get a feel for sloppiness or too much play. Then, I
replaced the side seals, the main seal, and the cover seal. Now, after
all of that, it is still leaking a few drops of oil from somewhere. :-(

...Is there anything I can do to check the health of the diff? Is there
anything else I should do that I have
not mentioned? I have visions of me listening to it with a stethoscope,
as
I manually turn the drive shaft,
wondering if I could hear trouble inside.
