TR3 Timing gear cover coating

A very irregular blob of  white/grey (under the grease and dirt) 
material (plaster of paris ?), apparently roughly troweled on,  was 
originally on my '64 TR4s timing cover.  I removed it (what hadn't 
fallen off) in the middle seventies and have not bothered to try and 
reapply. Bondo would probably look about like the original material if 
it was applied crudely enough.
